Best Low-Maintenance Rugs to Buy Online.

There is much more to choosing a rug than just the pattern and colour. The material that the rug is made of should also play an important role in your next rug purchase. Whether you have a messy toddler, pets that like to leave you “presents,” or have both (like me, *sigh*), don’t give up just yet. Believe it or not, there are rug options out there that are beautiful and easy-to-clean. These rugs are especially great for a dining room, kitchen, and at the front door. Below is a list of low-maintenance rug brands to help you with your next rug purchase.

  1. Ruggable.

I can almost guarantee that you have heard of the brand Ruggable. Since their debut a few years ago, they have become hugely popular because of their machine washable rugs. This means that all those juice spills and dirty foot prints can just be pulled up and thrown right into your washing machine. The rugs come with a pad and a thin top layer that separate for cleaning, then attach back together with velcro.

Pros: machine washable, comes with rug pad, very large variety of patterns and colours to choose from, comes in sizes up to 9x12 and runner rugs.

Cons: some of the larger rugs cannot fit into a standard home washing machine, the edges of the rugs have been known to curl.

2. The Rug Collective.

The Rug Collective also offers a huge variety of machine washable rugs, but their rugs are also spill-resistant. This means that whatever mess ends up on your rug (use your imagination), can easily be wiped up because of their liquid-resistant coating. For bigger messes or just routine cleaning, the rug can be pulled up and thrown right into your washing machine. Win-win!

Pros: the rugs have a liquid-resistant coating, machine washable, comes in a wide variety of patterns and colours, comes in sizes up to 9x12 and runner rugs.

Cons: does not come with a rug pad, less options of patterns and colours than Ruggable.

3. Loloi Rugs.

The flat-woven rugs from Loloi are super popular right now, especially among designers. They have beautiful printed patterns and colours and are inexpensive compared to buying a comparable vintage handwoven rug. Although the Loloi rugs are flat-woven and do not have a pile, they are super cushy and soft underfoot while being easy to wipe clean. The polyester fibers are very durable and are resistant to staining, so if you need to, grab that hard bristle scrub brush and get to work. These rugs can take a beating and still look beautiful. Available for purchasing on Wayfair.ca.

The picture shown below is actually in my own home. I can tell you from experience that you will not be disappointed in these rugs, I have a few of them myself!

Pros: beautiful patterns & colours, soft underfoot, easy to wipe clean, durable, variety of sizes up to 10x14 and runners.

Cons: printed pattern, no pile.
